Monks and spectators watch a procession of mounted lay officials in front of the Potala, during a rehearsal for the young 14th Dalai Lama's (tA la'i bla ma) return to Lhasa. The Chinese-style pagoda in the center of the image was situated directly behind the outer Zhöl (zhol) pillar, Doring Chima (rdo ring phyi ma). The wall of Zhöl village can be seen in the background, with the staircase leading up to the Potala's eastern courtyard visible above it.Associated Resources
