Description:
by Ariana Maki
This Buddha face shows stylistic characteristics of late 17th-early 18th century Bhutan, most markedly in his bulbous chin and cheeks, the slightly puckered treatment of the mouth, and most apparent in his eyes, which are red-rimmed, barely open, and have a deeply exaggerated curvature to the top lid.
