Mounted nobility processing along the south side of the Barkor (bar skor), likely taken from the Doring house during the Casting Out the Votive Offering for the Great Prayer (smon lam gtor rgyag). The southwest corner of the Jokhang is at the far left. Monks and laypeople line the street and watch from windows and roofs. Two monk policemen (ldob ldob) on the right hold wooden staves in front of an incense burner. The building in the center, with the dark stripe along its top edge, is Yapzhi Sampo (yab gzhis bsam pho), the house of the 7th Dalai Lama’s family. To its left is the Kelzang Darchen (bskal bzang dar chen) prayer flag pole, marking the Barkor’s south side.Associated Resources
