The south side of the Barkor (bar skor) facing east, with a procession of mounted cavalrymen dressed in chainmail and steel helmets, and armed with matchlocks, swords, bows and arrows. The procession likely took place on the 24th day of the first month, marking the end of the Great Prayer Festival (smon lam chen mo). Monks and lay people watch the event from the street, windows, and roofs. Labrang Nyingpa (bla brang rnying pa) can be seen on the left side at mid-distance, with Zurkhang (zur khang) house behind it. The building across from Zurkhang house is Pomdatsang (spom mda' tshang). The tall prayer flag pole between the two houses is the Sharkyareng Darchen (shar skya rengs dar chen).Associated Resources
