Description:

by Jessica O'Leary

The south side of the Barkor (bar skor) looking east, likely taken from the Kapshö (ka shod) house. The large building in the foreground on the left side of the image is Labrang Nyingpa (bla brang rnying pa), with the Zurkhang (zur khang) house behind it. The building in the foreground on the right side is Kyakhashar (skya kha shar), behind which the former Tsarong (tsha rong) house, Pomdatsang (spom mda' tshang), can be seen. The building at the far end of the street facing the viewer is Nangrongsha (nang rong shag), with the Sharkyareng Darchen (shar skya rengs dar chen) prayer flag pole in front of it. Shop awnings line the street at ground level.
