Two silk appliqué festival tangkas (thang ka) adorn the south face of the Potala's White Palace during the Sertreng Ceremony (tshogs mchod ser sbreng). The tangkas, featuring the Buddha surrounded by deities and bodhisattvas, measure 75 x 40 ft and have been sewn together. Spectators can be seen lining the steps of the Potala, and some buildings of the Zhöl (zhol) district of Lhasa are visible in the foreground. The photo was taken from within Zhöl (zhol) village facing upwards at the front face of the Potala.Associated Resources
