Description:
by Jessica O'Leary
Looking northwest from an elevated position on a mountain on the south side of the Lhasa valley. Chakpori (lcags po ri), the site of the Chakpori monastic medical college, is visible on the right side of the image, and Drepung ('bras spungs) Monastery can be seen in the foothills of the mountains in the background. There is another monastery in the foreground on the lower left side of the image, surrounded by cultivated fields. The photograph offers a good topographical perspective of the valley, with the Lhasa, or Kyichu (skyid chu), River running through the valley, and lush vegetation along its banks to the north.Associated Resources
