Altar in the assembly hall, Pha bong kha temple (the temple that sits atop the female turtle). This self-arisen image of Jo bo Sakyamuni is said to be the main deity image of this hermitage. It is said to date to the time of Srong btsan sgom po. It faces a window that looks down upon the cemetery below. The deity is believed to perform tha "transference of consciousness" ritual for all those who die and are brought to this cemetery.
